The King, The Queen and members of the Royal Family are today attending a Garter Day service and ceremony at Windsor Castle.

Garter Day The King and Queen

The Order of the Garter is the oldest and most senior Order of Chivalry in Britain, established by King Edward III nearly 700 years ago. Edward III was so inspired by tales of King Arthur and the chivalry of the Knights of the Round Table that he set up his own group of honourable knights.

Today, a service for the Most Noble Order of the Garter was held in St George’s Chapel, Windsor Castle. The installation of the new Companions of the Order took place during this service.
