The Duke of Cornwall and The Duchess of Edinburgh visit the Royal Cornwall Show

The Duke of Cornwall and The Duchess of Edinburgh have met locals and toured stalls at the Royal Cornwall Show 2025.

The Duke of Cornwall, as Patron of The Royal Cornwall Agricultural Association, and The Duchess of Edinburgh, as Patron of The Association of Agricultural Association have attended The Royal Cornwall show in Wadebridge. 

The show celebrates and highlights the best in Cornish heritage and tradition through agriculture, food and drink, entertainment and competition.

The show was established in 1793 by The Royal Cornwall Agricultural Association, and aims to promote and support the further improvement of agriculture, associated industries, and the people within it. Over 200 years later, it one of the biggest Agricultural Shows in the country and attracts around 120,000 visitors every year.

On arrival, Their Royal Highnesses visited the Royal Cornwall Food and Farming Pavilion which showcases dozens of the best artisan food and drink producers from across Cornwall, including Cornish cheeses, jams and preserves, as well as gins and other spirits.

Following this, The Duke visited the Duchy of Cornwall hub as this year, The Royal Cornwall Show is putting a spotlight on rural mental health by highlighting a variety of local charities.

The Duke also visited the Local Nature Partnership – Regenerative/Agricultural, an education hub hosted by the Cornwall & Isles of Scilly Local Nature Partnership and Cornwall Council. The hub looks to bring together organisations and projects to discuss the importance of balancing the traditional skills that need to be preserved in farming whilst still supporting future regenerative farming practices.

Meanwhile, The Duchess visited two organisations at the Show of which she is Patron, the first was LEAF (Linking Environment and Farming) a leading organisation promoting sustainable food and farming practices by inspiring and enabling more circular approaches to farming and food systems.

Her Royal Highness also visited the Girl Guides, who have played an important role in the running of the Royal Cornwall Show for many years. They work as a messaging team during the Show including delivering the results from livestock 2 rings and other sections to the Show Office.

Finally, The Duke presented the Duchy of Cornwall’s award which is given to the farm business that has successfully delivered a sustainable approach to farming, forestry and/or food production within Cornwall or the Isles of Scilly.
