The Duke of Edinburgh hosts a DofE Gold Award Presentation at Buckingham Palace

The Duke will also hold two more receptions in Belfast and Edinburgh to celebrate young people who have achieved the Gold Standard in the Award.
The Duke of Edinburgh, Patron of The Duke of Edinburgh's Award (DofE), held a reception at Buckingham Palace today to celebrate the young people who have achieved the Gold Standard in the Award.
The Earl of Wessex, who is Trustee of The Duke of Edinburgh Award, and The Countess of Wessex were also in attendance.
Since founding DofE in 1956, The Duke of Edinburgh has attended over 500 Gold Award Presentations. This summer The Duke will host two more; one in Belfast and another in Edinburgh to celebrate Gold Standard recipients across the UK.
The Duke met several of people at Buckingham Palace today to hear about their achievement.
In total, over six million people have participated in DofE programmes in the UK and achieved over 2.7 million Awards since 1956.
The award takes 12 months to complete and requires work in five different fields including; volunteering, physical achievement, practical skills and undertaking a shared activity in a residential setting away from home.
