Members of the Royal Family welcome G7 leaders to the UK

Published

As the seven world leaders gathered in Cornwall to discuss shared interests ranging from climate change to trade and the global vaccination programme, members of the Royal Family joined events in London and the South East.

The G7 ('Group of Seven' make up of UK, USA, Canada, Japan, Germany, France and Italy, plus the EU) meet annually for close-knit discussions on a variety of topics. The 2021 summit was hosted in Cornwall by Prime Minister Boris Johnson.

The hosting of foreign and Commonwealth leaders at State Visits, Commonwealth Heads of Government Meetings and high profile political gatherings such as the G7 forms a key element of the diplomatic role of the Royal Family.

The business leaders who attended the event come from the ‘Coalition of the Willing’ : a group brought together by The Prince of Wales as part of his Sustainable Markets Initiative. The group is working together to come up with a set of initiatives which were presented to G7 leaders.
