    The Duke of Kent, Patron, the Edge Foundation, this morning viewed the work of the Foundation at Excelsior Academy, Denton Road, Newcastle upon Tyne, and was received by Her Majesty's Lord-Lieutenant of Tyne and Wear (Mrs. Susan Whitfield).

    His Royal Highness later visited the International Centre for Life, Times Square, Newcastle upon Tyne, to mark its Twentieth Anniversary

    The Duke of Kent this afternoon viewed restoration and renovation work at the Cathedral Church of St. Nicholas, St. Nicholas Square, Newcastle upon Tyne.

    His Royal Highness, Colonel-in-Chief, The Royal Regiment of Fusiliers, afterwards attended Lunch with Fifth Battalion at Regimental Headquarters, Anzio House, Quayside, Newcastle upon Tyne.

    The Duke of Kent subsequently visited Liebherr Sunderland Works Limited, Ayres Quay, Deptford Terrace, Sunderland.

    The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge this morning attended a Galway European Capital of Culture Reception at Tribeton, 1-3 Merchants Road, Galway, and were received by Her Majesty's Ambassador to Ireland (His Excellency Mr. Robin Barnett).

    Their Royal Highnesses afterwards visited Tig Cóilí, Mainguard Street, the Latin Quarter, Galway.

    The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge this afternoon visited Salthill Knocknacarra Gaelic Athletic Association Club, Cappagh Road, Galway.

    Their Royal Highnesses later arrived at Heathrow Airport, London, from Ireland.

    Dr. Simon Case, Miss Natalie Barrows and Mr. Christian Jones were in attendance.

    The Prince of Wales this afternoon visited Jesus College, University of Oxford, Turl Street, Oxford, and was received by Her Majesty's Lord-Lieutenant of Oxfordshire (Mr. Timothy Stevenson).

    His Royal Highness afterwards visited Kellogg College, University of Oxford, Banbury Road, Oxford.

    The Duchess of Cornwall this afternoon visited Bousfield Primary School, South Bolton Gardens, London SW5, to celebrate World Book Day, and was received by the Reverend Canon David Reindorp (Deputy Lieutenant of Greater London).

    Her Royal Highness, President, Shelterbox, later received Mr. Sanj Srikanthan upon assuming his appointment as Chief Executive.

    Major General Robert Thomson was received by The Queen today upon his appointment as Commander British Forces Cyprus and Administrator of the Sovereign Base Areas.

    Ms. Lorna Goodison was received by The Queen this afternoon when Her Majesty presented her with The Queen's Gold Medal for Poetry.

    The Poet Laureate (Professor Simon Armitage) was present.

    Miss Amanda Milling MP was received by The Queen and delivered up her Wand of Office upon relinquishing her appointment as Treasurer of the Household.

    Mr. Stuart Andrew MP was received by Her Majesty upon his appointment as Treasurer of the Household when Her Majesty handed to him his Wand of Office.

    Mr. Jeremy Quin MP was received by The Queen when he delivered up his Wand of Office upon relinquishing his appointment as Comptroller of the Household.

    Mr. Michael Freer MP was received by Her Majesty upon his appointment as Comptroller of the Household when Her Majesty handed to him his Wand of Office.

    Mr. Stuart Andrew MP was received by The Queen and delivered up his Wand of Office upon relinquishing his appointment as Vice-Chamberlain of the Household.

    Mr. Marcus Jones MP was received by The Queen upon his appointment as Vice-Chamberlain of the Household when Her Majesty handed to him his Wand of Office.

    The Vice-Chamberlain of the Household was received in audience by The Queen and presented an Address from the House of Commons to which Her Majesty was graciously pleased to make reply.

    The Prince of Wales, on behalf of The Queen, held an Investiture at Buckingham Palace this morning.
