The President inspected a Guard of Honour in the Quadrangle before spending time with His Majesty in the Castle's State Rooms.
President Biden travelled directly from his meeting with the Prime Minister at 10 Downing Street to be met by The King at Windsor Castle.
The President was greeted by a Guard of Honour formed of The Prince of Wales’s Company of the Welsh Guards.
The Guards, who are based in Combermere Barracks in Windsor, have served with distinction at every opportunity through two World Wars and almost every British campaign since, including the Battle for liberation of the Falkland Islands, in Northern Ireland, the Balkans, Iraq and Afghanistan.
The Guards gave a Royal Salute, and the US National Anthem was played before The President, accompanied by The King, inspected the Guard of Honour, before returning to the dais to watch the military march past.
His Majesty and President Biden had tea together before His Majesty invited the President to view an exhibition of items from the Royal Collection relating to the United States of America.
In the Green Drawing Room, The King and the President joined participants of the Climate Finance Mobilisation Forum, which had taken place earlier in the day. The Forum brought together finance and philanthropic leaders from the UK and the USA to strengthen their commitments to climate action within emerging markets and developing economies. The King and the President were briefed on the conclusions of the discussions.
The King has met President Biden before: at the G7 Leaders Summit in Cornwall in June 2021, and at COP26 in Glasgow in November 2021.
His Majesty first met a serving US President when President Eisenhower visited Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Philip at Balmoral Castle in 1959.
