The King joins the launch of Apple x King's Trust Creative Labs
Published 06/10/2026
The King has joined a music workshop for young people, the first as part of the Apple x King’s Trust Creative Labs, a new programme of immersive industry-led education experiences.
At Battersea Power Station, The King, accompanied by Tim Cook, spent time with the first cohort taking part in the newly launched Apple x King’s Trust Creative Labs, a series of specialised workshops to help equip young people with the technology, resources and in-demand industry skills needed to realise their potential and move into work.
The Creative Labs will offer young people opportunities to learn from Apple’s experts across various creative industries as they explore potential career pathways. The new programme builds on a long-running partnership between Apple and The King’s Trust and launches during the Trust’s 50th anniversary year.
Since it was founded by The King, as The Prince of Wales, in 1976, The King's Trust has helped more than 1.3 million young people across the UK reach their potential by developing life skills, preparing for employment, accessing job opportunities or launching their businesses. Three in four of those supported over the last five years have moved into work, education or training.
Since 2019, Apple has partnered with The King’s Trust to help young people in the UK transform their lives by developing the confidence and creative digital skills to prepare for employment. Apple’s support has enabled The King’s Trust to expand STEAM programming to every region across the country through the Trust’s Achieve programme. Using Apple’s coding education resources, young people aged 11 to 20 work collaboratively, and think strategically to develop apps that address challenges in their communities.
Additionally, at-risk young people aged 16 to 25 have access to Apple technology and learning resources through The King’s Trust’s 12-week Team programme, using those tools to support their efforts to earn a Personal Development and Employability qualification.
In Battersea, The King heard from participants involved in a music creation session led by Prophet Guillory, Head of Artist Services, Tools and Community at Apple Music, as part of the first workshop.
The visit concluded in the Apple Music Hall, a new state of the art live music venue, for a unique sound check experience. Sir Elton John, a longstanding supporter of The King’s Trust and Apple Music, joined The King and Tim Cook in the audience for the short performance by Skye Newman, together with young people supported by The King’s Trust.
