The Duke of Kent, President, Royal United Services Institute for Defence and Security Studies, this evening attended the Annual Lecture by the Chief of the Defence Staff at 61 Whitehall, London SW1.

Buckingham Palace

The Amir of the State of Qatar this morning visited the Royal Military Academy Sandhurst, Camberley, Surrey, and was received by the Commandant (Major General Nicholas Cowley), the Rt. Hon. John Healey MP (Secretary of State for Defence), General Sir Roland Walker (Chief of the General Staff) and Air Chief Marshal Sir Richard Knighton (Chief of the Air Staff).

His Highness met contemporaries from his time at the Royal Military Academy and current Qatari cadets before receiving a briefing on the Joint Squadrons.

The Amir subsequently witnessed a flypast of Typhoon and Hawk aircraft and met Joint Squadron personnel.

The Amir of the State of Qatar and Sheikha Jawaher bint Hamad bin Suhaim Al Thani, with the Qatari Suite in attendance, took leave of The King and Queen this afternoon and left Buckingham Palace.

The Amir afterwards visited No. 10 Downing Street, had talks with the Prime Minister and subsequently was entertained to Tea by the Prime Minister on behalf of His Majesty's Government.

The Amir of the State of Qatar this evening received an Address of Welcome and was entertained at a Banquet by the Rt. Hon. the Lord Mayor and the City of London Corporation at Mansion House.

The Duke of Gloucester was present.

The King this morning visited the Disasters Emergency Committee at St. Peter's Church, Kensington Park Road, Notting Hill, London W11, and was received by His Majesty's Lord-Lieutenant of Greater London (Sir Kenneth Olisa) and the Reverend Patrick Allerton (Vicar).

His Majesty, escorted by Mr. Saleh Saeed (Chief Executive Officer, Disasters Emergency Committee), met aid workers, fundraisers, staff and trustees.

The King held a Council at 1.30 p.m..

The Rt. Hon. Sir Keir Starmer MP (Prime Minister and First Lord of the Treasury) had an audience of The King this evening, which was preceded by a Meeting with the Rt. Hon. Angela Rayner MP (Deputy Prime Minister) and the Rt. Hon. Rachel Reeves MP (Chancellor of the Exchequer).

The Queen today attended a Reception for Entente Littéraire given by the Ambassador of the French Republic (Her Excellency Mme. Hélène Tréheux-Duchêne) at the residence.

The Princess Royal, on behalf of The King, held an Investiture at Windsor Castle this afternoon.

The Viscount Hood (Lord in Waiting) was present at Mansion House this evening upon the Departure of The Amir of the State of Qatar and bade farewell to His Highness on behalf of His Majesty upon the conclusion of the State Visit to The King and Queen.

Buckingham Palace

The Amir of the State of Qatar and Sheikha Jawaher Bint Hamad Bin Suhaim Al-Thani today commenced a State Visit to The King and Queen.

The Prince and Princess of Wales welcomed Their Highnesses at their residence in London W1, on behalf of The King.

The Amir of the State of Qatar and Sheikha Jawaher Bint Hamad Bin Suhaim Al-Thani, accompanied by Their Royal Highnesses, drove to Horse Guards and were met by The King.

The Amir of the State of Qatar and Sheikha Jawaher Bint Hamad Bin Suhaim Al-Thani, accompanied by The King, with The Prince and Princess of Wales, drove in a Carriage Procession to Buckingham Palace with a Sovereign's Escort of the Household Cavalry, and were greeted by The Queen.

Gun Salutes were fired in Green Park by The King's Troop, Royal Horse Artillery, and at the Tower of London by the Honourable Artillery Company.

Guards of Honour were provided at Horse Guards by 1st Battalion Welsh Guards and at Buckingham Palace by 1st Battalion Welsh Guards.

His Majesty's Body Guard of the Honourable Corps of Gentlemen at Arms, The King's Body Guard of the Yeomen of the Guard and a Detachment of Household Cavalry were on duty.

The King presented The Amir with the Insignia of an Honorary Knight Grand Cross of the Civil Division of the Most Honourable Order of the Bath.

The Amir of the State of Qatar and Sheikha Jawaher Bint Hamad Bin Suhaim Al-Thani this afternoon visited Westminster Abbey.

The Amir afterwards drove to the Palace of Westminster and was received by the Lord Speaker (the Lord McFall of Alcluith) and the Speaker of the House of Commons (the Rt. Hon. Sir Lindsay Hoyle MP).

The Speaker welcomed The Amir of the State of Qatar and His Highness delivered an Address.

The Amir subsequently attended a Reception with Peers, Members of Parliament and other guests.

The Amir of the State of Qatar afterwards called upon The Prince of Wales at Kensington Palace.

The King and Queen gave a State Banquet this evening in honour of The Amir of the State of Qatar and Sheikha Jawaher Bint Hamad Bin Suhaim Al-Thani at which The Prince of Wales, The Duke and Duchess of Edinburgh, The Princess Royal and Vice Admiral Sir Tim Laurence, and The Duke and Duchess of Gloucester were present.
