The King and Queen this morning drove to the Scottish Parliament, Edinburgh, to attend the Opening Ceremony to mark the Seventh Session of the Scottish Parliament and were received at Queensberry House by His Majesty's Lord-Lieutenant of the City of Edinburgh (Councillor Robert Aldridge, the Rt. Hon. the Lord Provost). Mr. Kenneth Gibson MSP (Presiding Officer of the Scottish Parliament) and the Rt. Hon. John Swinney MSP (First Minister of Scotland).
The Presiding Officer opened the Session of Parliament in the Chamber and His Majesty was graciously pleased to address the Scottish Parliament.
The First Minister subsequently addressed the Parliament.
