Alongside fellow athletes from the 1976 Great Britain team, The Princess Royal has joined celebrations for fifty years since competing in the Montreal Olympic Games.
The Princess of Royal, who is Patron of the GB Olympians Association, has attended a reception bringing together members of the Great Britain teams who competed in the 1976 Olympic Games in Innsbruck (Winter) and Montreal (Summer).
During the reception, The Princess Royal honoured the shared experience of Olympic competitors and their achievements fifty years on from the Games.
Her Royal Highness was the first member of the Royal Family to compete in the Olympic Games when she rode Queen Elizabeth II’s horse, Goodwill, in the equestrian three-day event competition.
The Princess’s daughter, Zara, followed her mother into a successful riding career. Following triumph at the London 2012 Olympics, Zara was presented with a silver medal by The Princess.
