The Prince of Wales is a keen sportsman who firmly believes in the crucial role that sport can play to support both our physical and mental wellbeing.
His Royal Highness has spearheaded several initiatives around the importance of sport, including Heads Up – a campaign which harnessed the influence and popularity of football to raise awareness of the importance of our mental health. The Prince is an avid football fan, having supported Aston Villa Football Club since he was a child, and is Patron of the Football Association.
His Royal Highness also supports a number of other sporting charities including the Welsh Rugby Union (WRU), Welsh Rugby Charitable Trust, Swim England, and the British Sub Aqua Club (BSAC).
To mark the start of the 2023 Rugby World Cup, The Prince joined The Princess of Wales and The Princess Royal in their respective roles as Patrons of the Welsh Rugby Union, Rugby Football Union, and Scottish Rugby Union for a special episode of The Good, The Bad and the Rugby. During their conversation, Their Royal Highnesses spoke about the upcoming tournament, their love of sport, and their sporting heroes.
