Their Royal Highnesses mark International Nurses' Day

On International Nurses Day, The Duchess of Cornwall met staff and extraordinary nurses working for Roald Dahl’s Marvellous Children’s Charity during a visit to The Whittington Hospital in London.
The Duchess is Patron of the charity, which provides specialist nurses and support to seriously ill children. There are currently 80 Roald Dahl Specialist Nurses caring for over 21,000 children across the UK. Her Royal Highness spoke to nurses and senior members of the Roald Dahl Charity team and wider staff at the hospital who have been working throughout the pandemic to support the local community.
In the hospital ward, The Duchess met children who were being cared for by the nurses and their families.
Before departing, The Duchess of Cornwall was invited to plant a Roald Dahl rose in the garden alongside the Nye Bevan, NHS rose to symbolise the close relationship between the hospital and charity.
The Prince of Wales wrote an article for The Times to mark International Nurses' Day.
His Royal Highness wrote:
So, after a year which has seen so many of us confronted with loss and change, it is right that we take time to praise and thank our nurses who devote themselves to caring for others.
Yesterday, I visited the hospital that tended for my father. I was glad to meet some of the wonderful nurses who provided their skill and care during his time there. They embody the spirit of duty, care and professionalism that makes us all feel grateful and proud. So, today, I am thinking of them and of all nurses who continue to help us through this pandemic. They deserve our thoughts and thanks.
