The Duchess of Cornwall supports The Big Virtual Lunch
Published
To launch The Big Virtual Lunch, The Duchess of Cornwall has shared a favourite recipe, Chocolate Biscuit Cake, for the nation to enjoy during their very own Big Virtual Lunch.
Her Royal Highness is Patron of The Big Lunch - the UK's biggest annual get-together for neighbours. It strives to inspire community spirit by encouraging people to have lunch with their neighbours and spend time together on the first weekend of June each year. In 2019, 4 million new friendships were formed as a result of The Big Lunch!
Due to the coronavirus pandemic this year, The Big Lunch have moved their annual event online.
Opening the annual weekend of thanksgiving for communities, The Duchess sent a message of support:
Times may change, but yet the principles, and power, of the community do not. Celebrating the ties that bind us, addressing the feelings of loneliness, the importance of breaking bread together have always been at the heart of The Big Lunch. And they are even more vital in these current, challenging times.
Her Royal Highness has attended Big Lunch events in the UK and across the world, including Barbados and Ghana. Last year, The Duchess celebrated their 10th Anniversary at its birth place - the Eden Project!
