Women of the World Festival Reception

Published

Today The Duchess of Cornwall hosted a reception at Clarence House for a number of inspirational women from across the world to celebrate the Women of the World (WOW) Festival.

WOW is a global movement that celebrates women and girls and looks at the obstacles that stop them from achieving their potential.

The Women of the World Festival was founded in 2010 by Jude Kelly at Southbank Centre in London, and since then has reached over two million people in 17 countries on five continents with more than 65 festivals and events.

The Duchess is President of the Women of the World Festival, and has attended WOW events around the world. Most recently HRH joined a roundtable with women in Accra during the #RoyalVisitGhana.

During a speech, HRH said:

It’s a huge pleasure to see you all here today, a mix of familiar faces from last year, as well as new friends joining us for the first time, as we prepare for the 9th Women of the World Festival. I can’t believe that it is the 9th. I am immensely proud to be the President of WOW and to have this opportunity to celebrate your remarkable work. I always enjoy hearing your stories: stories of what WOW has meant to you; of your achievements; of the obstacles you have overcome; and of those you continue to face.
