Meet Yasmin: HR Advisor

Yasmin, HR Advisor

Yasmin graduated with a degree in Business Management and HR and was looking to start her career.

"When I saw the role of HR Assistant at the Royal Household, I was admittedly surprised to find an HR function. But I applied as previous experience wasn't required, which was perfect for me having only worked in Retail alongside my studies."

"I mostly support Royal Collection Trust, and am involved in managing the recruitment and onboarding of the summer teams. But the HR team is made up of HR Business Partners, and functional specialists, and so even though the majority of my work is focused on recruitment at the moment, I also get exposure to all aspects of HR. There's always a new challenge, query or project to get involved in, and I am stretched in so many ways."

It's important to realise that, behind the ceremonial events and magnificent buildings, there's a fully functioning business.

"The Royal Household is fantastic at supporting personal and professional development. After being here for just over a year I was offered my first promotion, which came with an increase in responsibility and the chance to learn new skills. Being involved in projects has also helped me to develop personally, and I am now a lot more confident."

"While our culture will always be underpinned by tradition, the Household is really good at finding ways to improve for the future.  In HR we facilitate regular feedback sessions to help determine where we can introduce new ways of working. We value employees' opinions, and they appreciate having the chance to give us their feedback."

"I am naturally a very conscientious and driven person, but being part of the Household brings that out in me even more. It's such a gratifying feeling when you see over 400 people start their summer job, and knowing that they wouldn’t have done so without your hard work."

"I am so proud to be able to contribute to events that the whole world will enjoy, and knowing that we represent The King makes everyone strive to do the best they can."
