Her Royal Highness is Patron of St John’s, a charity that was founded in 1174 to provide support to the people of Bath and the surrounding area. The charity works to build resilient communities by supporting people to overcome challenges, improve their lives and live as independently as possible.

The Duchess spoke to some of the residents who live at St John’s and met members of community groups who use the charity's facilities, including women who take part in the ‘Silver Swans’ ballet class for those aged over 55.

The new almshouse, Rosenberg House, will offer further accommodation for those who need it.

Following the opening of Rosenberg House, The Duchess of Cornwall visited the Southside Family Project, an organisation that helps families dealing with issues including physical disability, domestic abuse, sexual violence, substance abuse and long-term mental health problems.

Southside Family Project is one of many Bath-based projects supported by St John’s and their team of paid and voluntary workers has built a strong reputation for expertise in family work since Southside was established in 1997.

The Duchess met staff and supporters during the visit, including a group of Young Advocates, who have previously been helped by the charity and are now working with Southside to help others in similar situations.
