Members of the Royal Family attend G7 Summit events

The Prince of Wales and The Duchess of Cornwall have attended events in Cornwall for the G7 Summit.
Today Her Majesty The Queen, The Prince of Wales and The Duchess of Cornwall and The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge welcomed the G7 leaders to Cornwall with a Leader's Reception at The Eden Project.
The G7 ('Group of Seven' make up of UK, USA, Canada, Japan, Germany, France and Italy, plus the EU) meet annually for close-knit discussions on a variety of topics. The 2021 summit was hosted in Cornwall by Prime Minister Boris Johnson.
The hosting of foreign and Commonwealth leaders at State Visits, Commonwealth Heads of Government Meetings and high profile political gatherings such as the G7 forms a key element of the diplomatic role of the Royal Family. Read more about the activity of other Members of the Royal Family here.
Following yesterday's reception at St James's Palace with Sustainable Markets Initiative CEOs, The Prince of Wales hosted a second meeting to discuss how the private sector can work with governments to tackle the climate emergency. This was attended by CEOs and G7 leaders.
During a speech, The Prince said:
I can only applaud your determination during this G7 Summit to create a greener and more prosperous future in the wake of the Covid-19 pandemic. The global health emergency has shown us what a truly borderless crisis looks like. Of course, we did not fully see Covid coming. Yet climate change and bio-diversity loss represent a borderless crisis, the solutions to which have been argued about and postponed for far too long. The fight against this terrible pandemic provides, if ever one was needed, a crystal-clear example of the scale, and sheer speed, at which the global community can tackle crises when we combine political will with business ingenuity and public mobilization. Ladies and gentlemen, we are doing it for the pandemic. So if you don’t mind me saying so, we must also do it for the planet.
