The Duchess of Cornwall visits Sussex

Published

Yesterday, The Duchess of Cornwall carried out engagements across Sussex.

Her Royal Highness first opened the new Dream Centre at Chailey Heritage Foundation. The multi-purpose centre features a sports hall, immersive sensory zone and specialist rebound therapy facilities, which will provide young people with disabilities the chance to participate in fun activities.

The Duchess’s mother was a volunteer at the centre, and Her Royal Highness said during the visit:

She loved this place, and she loved the children and loved the people she worked with.

The Duchess and her sister planted a tree in memory of their mother, Rosalind Shand, and to mark the opening of the new facilities.

In her role as President, The Duchess of Cornwall visited the new Typography exhibition ‘Kitchling in Ditchling’ at Ditchling Museum of Art + Craft.

The museum displays local works, allowing visitors to see artwork in the place where they were made.

Next, to mark the 10th anniversary of her first visit to a Rape Crisis Centre, The Duchess visited The Rape Crisis Centre for Surrey and Sussex.

Her Royal Highness met with survivors before joining a reception with staff, volunteers and representatives from affiliated organisations.

Finally, as President of Wine GB, The Duchess visited the new winery at Bolney Wine Estate and met vineyard staff and guests.

The wine estate is now being run by third generation members of the family.
