The Queen has visited the Charles Dickens House Museum to celebrate 100 years since the house was opened to the public in 1925.

Her Majesty toured the former London home of Charles Dickens and viewed some of the original material on display relating to Dickens’ work and wider collection.

There was also the opportunity to hear from Simon Callow and Miriam Margolyes, both patrons of the museum, who read a series of letters written by Charles Dickens.

The Charles Dickens House Museum is the world’s most comprehensive repository of material related to Charles Dickens; there is a collection of over 100,000 items which span the whole of Dickens’s life and beyond.

The Queen also met with museum staff and volunteers to hear more about their work and why the museum is so important to them.
