A speech by HRH The Prince of Wales during the presentation of a bust of Major Jack Watson M.C. to the people of Ranville, France

I am sure he would be immensely proud of all the work that you, and the Airbourne Assault Normandy Trust, are doing.
Having been privileged to meet Major Watson on several occasions, I know from first-hand experience that Jack was 'the soldier every Paratrooper aspires to be' even in his later years. He was a soldier's soldier, a man of great courage and honour, who fought through Normandy, the Ardennes, Holland and all the way to the Baltic.
Perhaps inevitably for a man who truly was "Ready for Anything", Major Watson went on to serve with distinction in the post war years in Palestine, Austria and the Middle East.
It was for this reason that Major Watson devoted himself to ensuring that the legacy of his comrades and the people of Ranville during D-Day would be passed on to future generations.
I am sure he would be immensely proud of all the work that you, and the Airbourne Assault Normandy Trust, are doing.
