The King and The Queen Consort have visited the M&S Bank Arena in Liverpool, the host venue of this year’s Eurovision Song Contest.
This year marks the 67th Eurovision Song Contest, the first to be held in the United Kingdom for twenty-five years. The UK is hosting the event on behalf of Ukraine, after Kalush Orchestra from Turin, Ukraine won last year’s Eurovision 2022.
During their visit, Their Majesties revealed this year’s staging and toured the Arena, meeting the creative team and this year’s UK contestant, Mae Muller, along the way.
Their Majesties also met some of the hosts of Eurovision 2023: Ukrainian host, Julia Sanina, Scott Mills, Rylan Clark and Hannah Waddingham.
The Eurovision Song Contest 2023 live shows will be held at the arena between Monday 8th and Saturday 13th May.
Later, at Liverpool Central Library, The King and The Queen Consort joined celebrations for the Library’s official twinning with Ukraine’s first public Library, the Regional Scientific Library in Odesa.
The Library is running a two-week cultural festival alongside Eurovision called Eurolearn, a Eurovision-inspired education programme for primary and secondary pupils, recognises the cultural partnership of the UK and Ukraine to celebrate the contest.
During a live link with the Regional Scientific Library in Odesa, His Majesty was joined virtually by the First Lady of Ukraine to reveal a plaque marking the twinning of the libraries.
