The Prince of Wales and The Duchess of Cornwall visit the ITV Studios

The Prince of Wales and The Duchess of Cornwall visited the ITV Studios today to mark 90 years of the Royal Television Society (RTS). 

His Royal Highness is Patron of the RTS, an educational charity promoting the "art and science of television" and the organisation is supported by the BBC, Sky, ITV and Channel 4.

Their Royal Highnesses toured the studios where they were introduced to presenters and the production team before being invited to sit on the This Morning sofa alongside presenters Philip Schofield and Holly Willoughby.

This Morning, Britain’s longest running daytime television show, is celebrating its 30th anniversary this year, and to celebrate The Prince and The Duchess signed the programme’s very first visitors book. Their Royal Highnesses then joined chef Phil Vickery in the This Morning kitchen and tried some mutton hotpot.

At a reception for the RTS, The Prince was given the RTS Gold Medal - the society's highest accolade - in recognition of his support for the charity. Their Royal Highnesses also met young people who have benefited from the RTS bursary scheme.

Recent graduates Jonas Mondua and Suzanne Pearson said the programme had been "very beneficial" and both had landed jobs after graduating from the University of York.

Some 93 students have benefited from the scheme throughout its five years.

Their Royal Highnesses concluded the event with the cutting of a gold-frosted cake.
