Their Royal Highnesses arrive in Singapore for their Autumn Tour
Published
The Prince of Wales and The Duchess of Cornwall have arrived in Singapore on the first stop of their Autumn Tour. Their Royal Highnesses' visit, which is at the request of the British Government, will celebrate the U.K.'s partnership with these Commonwealth Nations on shared priorities in advance of the Commonwealth Summit in April 2018. The visits will highlight key themes including celebrating community, cultural diversity and promoting business innovation.
Their Royal Highnesses began their 11-day tour, which will also take them to Malaysia, Brunei and India, by celebrating the Commonwealth Games. The Prince held the Baton during its Relay around the world.
The Prince and Duchess met Singaporean athletes and para-athletes who hope to win medals for their Commonwealth country.
The Prince of Wales was handed the Baton by Clarence Chew, 21, a member of Singapore's national table tennis team. Clarence said: "The Prince was asking about our sport and he said table tennis was a fast sport and an exciting sport."
His Royal Highness also chatted to Yip Pin Xiu, 25, Singapore's most decorated para-athlete who competes in swimming, and after meeting The Prince she said: "It's great the baton has The Queen's message inside and it's travelling all around the Commonwealth countries."
The Baton has already been touring Singapore. The image below shows batonbearers Eunice Chu (left) and Xavier Ducourneu (both rugby union players with Team Singapore) with the Baton at Singapore Botanic Gardens during a section of the Relay.

Her Majesty The Queen launched the Commonwealth Baton Relay outside Buckingham Palace in March 2017. By the time the Relay has finished, the Baton will have travelled 230,000km.
