Members of The Royal Family mark International Nurses' Day

To mark International Nurses’ Day The Queen, The Prince of Wales, The Duchess of Cornwall, The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, The Princess Royal, The Countess of Wessex and Princess Alexandra have joined together to pay tribute to the world’s nurses, speaking with healthcare professionals working in Australia, India, Malawi, Sierra Leone, Bahamas, Cyprus, Tanzania and the UK.
In a video, Members of the Royal Family express their thanks to nurses for the work they are doing, especially in light of the Covid-19 pandemic.
Nurses and midwives make up half the global health care workforce and play a critical role in health promotion, disease prevention and delivering primary community care.
The Duchess of Cornwall also sent a message of support to nurses working for Roald Dahl’s Marvellous Children’s Charity who care for over 21,000 children supported by the charity.
HRH has been Royal Patron of Roald Dahl’s Marvellous Children’s Charity since 2017.
In her role as Commodore-in-Chief of the Royal Naval Medical Services, The Duchess thanked our Naval Nurses for their continued work in supporting the nation’s health. Over the past weeks, Naval Nurses have been serving alongside NHS colleagues across the UK in the fight against COVID-19.
