Media Centre Privacy Notice

What information do we collect?

Your name and email address

How is it collected?

The Royal Household provides a page through its web address royal.uk headed "Media Centre" (www.royal.uk/media-centre) for professional journalists to sign up to receiving media communications from the Royal Household.

Why do we collect it?

Your personal data is gathered in order to provide professional journalists worldwide who sign up to the Media Centre with latest updates from the Royal Household's Royal Communications team regarding Royal visits and events. It also provides you with access to resources such as press releases, operational notes, speeches, annual financial reports and media information packs.

How do we use your personal data?

We use your data to email you communications from the Media Centre.

How is it stored and processed?

When you add your personal data to this page, it is collected and stored by an external provider engaged by The Royal Household. The subsequent email communications to you from the Media Centre will be sent via our provider's emailing system.

Who will it be shared with?

Your personal data will be shared with colleagues in The Royal Household, and with our external provider who support the functionality of the Media Centre.

How do we protect your personal data?

When the Royal Household engages third parties to process personal data on our behalf, as is the case for this data, they do so on the basis of written instructions, are under a duty of confidentiality, and are obliged to implement appropriate technical and organisational measures to ensure the security of data in line with the relevant legislation.

How long do we keep it?

Unless you unsubscribe to the service using the Unsubscribe button at the bottom of each email communication with you, we will keep your data for as long as the Media Centre remains active and then we will destroy it.

What are my rights?

As a data subject, you have a number of rights. You can:

  • access and obtain a copy of your data on request;
  • ask us to change incorrect or incomplete data;
  • ask us to delete or stop processing your data, for example where the data is no longer necessary for the purposes of processing; and
  • object to the processing of your data where we are relying on our legitimate interests as the legal ground for processing
