The Pride of Britain Awards honours and celebrates the achievements of ordinary people, of all ages, who have acted bravely or extraordinarily in challenging situations. The Prince's Trust Young Achiever award is presented at The Pride of Britain Awards every year to a young person who has turned their life around against the odds and is now helping others.

His Royal Highness began the evening meeting ambassadors of The Prince’s Trust, who were attending as part of the charity’s 40th anniversary celebrations. Before heading into the ceremony, The Prince chatted with supporters and ambassadors of The Trust, including Emma Bunton, Phillip Schofield, and Louis Tomlinson.

The Prince of Wales was then introduced to the main stage by Dame Maggie Smith and presented 25-year-old Francesca Brown with The Prince’s Trust Young Achiever Award.

Francesca, who is from London, launched the organisation Goals4Girls in January 2015. Goals4Girls helps young women build life-skills and confidence through sport, directing them towards setting and reaching their goals. To date, she has coached and developed over 600 young women into professional clubs, colleges and work placements.

His Royal Highness said: "I am always so moved and inspired by the achievements of my Trust's young people, and this evening's Award recipient is no different.   Francesca’s remarkable story demonstrates the importance of my Trust’s work and the impact such support can have in changing young people's lives.

"However, it is also a reminder that we must not forget about those young people we haven't reached yet, who still need our help."

The annual Pride of Britain awards ceremony was hosted by presenter Carol Vorderman, and took place at central London's Grosvenor House. Award categories included special recognition, emergency services, and child of courage with the winners coming from across the country and from all walks of life.
